I hate that weird bummed out mood that comes around every once in a while, and always when seemingly you have NO reason to be bummed at all. Kids and family are healthy, everything's fine, you've been happy as a clam for weeks, but you're bummed the fuck out! It's not crushing or serious enough to be depression, it's like a fricking paper cut on your soul.

I've got the blahs, big time. I think I have for a while... My creative mojo seems to have run headlong into a wall, and I can't finish work to save my life. I sit at my computer and *think* about working, but somehow it never seems to translate into actual work. Meh.

I have also realized that I have a non-existent social life, and no friends. I have students, many of them wonderfully delightful people whose company I enjoy and with whom I'm quite friendly, but when you are taking money from someone for a service there's a certain distance that has to be kept lest it becomes weird. I can't charge my friends for knitting with them!

This is an odd place for me to be.

Maybe not quite, but enough to where I'm not even going to try to catch up.

I disappeared for a while, don't know if you noticed. I had a hissy fit when Opera wouldn't upgrade and my computer stopped being able to install *anything*, and with Opera being gone my bookmarks were gone. Not being able to click straight to my friends page meant I never went, and yes I could have added a boookmark in Firefox, but dammit, the problem was *temporary*!!

Yeah, well, it didn't work out that way. Problem is still there, but hey - I now have a laptop... which runs Opera... :)

My daughter the eldest (13) just came down to my office to give me some coffee on her way out the door. The conversation went like this:

DTE: I have to go, Pappa's outside!
Me: yes, but first you must kiss me, for I am your mother.
*kiss*
Me: you will never be to old to kiss your mother
DTE: ok
Me: when you are 25, you will kiss me!
DTE, with a big grin: I will kiss your old wrinkly lips!

I hoard moments like these for the upcoming teenage years...

I can't wrap my head around it being 2007 in a few hours. I can't wrap my fingers around this stupid laptop keyboard, but that's another matter altogether...

For 2007, I want teh stupid to stop. I want the procrastination to go away, the being adverse to paperwork to vanish, and the messiness to unmess itself.

In 2007, I want to (in no particular order):

make more friends, and connect/reconnect with old ones
learn a new skill
treat myself and my immediate environment better
love and support my family
go home

Ever since I moved to this country, I've been wanting a vanity license plate saying either Gunilla or Godmoma. They have both always been taken (proof that I'm not the only Gunilla in the state, I guess... *snicker*). I was thinking of settling for something knitting related when I got the hunch to check Godmoma again, and IT WAS AVAILABLE!!!!!!! After ten years!!! I called Thomas and said "I'm getting a vanity plate" and he went "eeeh, ok", so now it's just a matter of waiting the 8 - 12 weeks for some poor convict to make it, I guess. I am so excited, go DMV! :)

I love, love, LOVE my job! I taught three workshops today - fastest Christmas stocking ever, Intro to Fair Isle, and Finishing 101. In the fair isle class, ALL my students got the concept of knitting with one color in each hand. ALL of them!! And the finishing class was great, they loved it :) Mattress stitch demystified - that alone is worth its weight in gold.

*happy sigh* I'm going to bed now. Back is sore and tired, and I have to be back at work tomorrow morning at 9 :)
